JPMorgan on Intel

IDF Update: Lots of Excitement But Little Upside; Reiterate Neutral - Christopher Danely; A good portion of the demonstrations and most of the questions posed by analysts and investors were surrounding the Atom processor and its potential growth and applications. Our checks indicate orders for the Atom are far exceeding Intel's expectations, and we expect supply of the Atom processor to remain constrained into 2009. Our checks in the PC and retail channels also indicate the Atom is already beginning to cannibalize Intel's Celeron sales. Positive tone but little upside. Intel stated it was "comfortable" with the current quarter, and our checks indicate both sales and bookings are tracking at or slightly above the midpoint of its guidance.
