Carphone Warehouse - KPIs were already known from the trading update, and group profitability was broadly inline. However, today's focus will be on (a) the cautious outlook, (b) increased net debt expectations and (c) AOL subscriber restatements. The company confirmed press reports (e.g. Financial Times article this morning) that it would review the separation of the fixed and distribution businesses.

Dell, Intel and Cisco are joining an initiative to build a big supercomputer that will serve as an industry testbed. WSJ

HPQ – the co will extend its usual 1-week holiday shutdown to 2-weeks this year in an effort to save costs according to a report in WSJ; HPQ is in the process of trimming some ~24K people (in part stemming from the EDS deal). WSJ.

Notebooks - Quanta expects notebook shipments in November to fall between the 3.3 million units shipped in September and four million units of October thanks to Apple's new MacBook and stable consumer notebook shipments, according to a Chinese-language Apply Daily report – Digitimes
