Warner Bros. is getting out of the business of distributing DVDs in South Korea because of Internet piracy, marking the latest withdrawal by Hollywood in one of the world's most wired countries. In coming weeks, Warner Bros. will shut its DVD operations in South Korea and sell licensing rights to a local company, which will take over the distribution of its movies, a Warner Bros. spokeswoman said. EMI, the troubled music company owned by entrepreneur Guy Hands, is in talks with rival music labels to outsource its music distribution in the US. EMI has been in negotiations with several labels, including its larger competitors, Warner Music, Sony Music and Universal Music. The company has also explored the possibility of outsourcing its US sales and marketing functions but this is not being pursued. EMI does not intend to give up its digital distribution.
